You know, I dig my heels in and argue with people like the Eustonites (and Jim!) who think that the UK anti-war movement is a sick joke. After listening to and seeing that godawful spectacle, I wonder why I bother.

That sounds like a typical anti israeli rant but what is shocking is not his views which he entirely entitled to And I agree Israel's current policies are barbaric. But that is outragous to have a rant like this in a peace movement which is an oxymoron.
Hezbollah is reactionary period. It has no concept of appealing to Israeli workers. Zionism has more blood on its hands.

It did... although I'm not sure what my own position would have been in 1948. Whatever, it's certainly a fact that Israel exists now, and any viable peace in the region has to acknowledge that reality.

Any socialist could write extensively on the failings of the reactionary politics of the Islamists, the anti-Semtisim of the Arab rulers, etc., etc (I hope to do something on my blog, soon)
In fact probably in a similar way that you could expose the reactionary politics of the religious parties in Israel.
But at the moment Israeli jets are bombing Lebanon, destroying large parts of its infrastructure and killing many people (who may be Muslim, Christian, Agnostic/Atheist or more).
There is very little mention of these aggressive acts compared with your generally correct critique of a few marginal figures. Where is the main enemy?

Southpaw; of course I think the Israeli attacks on the Lebanon are absolutely appalling. But you can read coverage of them across the mainstream media and in most of the left press too. There isn't really much that I can add to that by posting about them here.
That having been said, there are individual stories from the Middle East and Iraq that do get covered here, especially when they don't appear so much in the mainstream media. Witness Lala's thread about Ibtihal Jassem, for instance.
