When Eustonites Attack!

Having recently advertised the splendid article by a Blairite pensions minister which provides some of the theoretical backbone for Euston's new social-democratic political project, the heroes and heroines of the Eustonite Harry's Place site have now gone into full-throated war cries at the latest horrific enemy of enlightement progressivism.

Who are these barbarians that so rile our heroes? Why of course it's Greenpeace, who have committed the cardinal sin of taking the piss out of city bankers who drive 4 x 4s. According to HP posters and commenters, variously, this gross act of indecency makes our greenie chums "modern day misanthropes" and "fascists". These accusations, of course, coming from the people who brought you support for the war on Iraq, vitriolic attacks on the orthodox left as a daily obsession etc.

Any Eustonites who want to remind me why your project is a progressive one, the comments box is all yours.

I'm not really a Eustonite - I went to the first meeting, but that was more because it was in a pub; I didn't realise it was a project to formalise a new progressive, internationalist left manifesto - so I might not be best qualified to comment, but I don't think it's strictly accurate to take Marcus's post and extrapolate from that that "Eustonites" now believe that Greenpeace are fascists.

Personally I think that the Greenpeace advert, from what I've heard about it, is a bit dodgy, but a dodgy anti-4x4 advert is better than none at all.

Spitting is not allowed on our platform.

However the "futures" need to be taken on. Some of the management speak is so much hot air.

Errr, ok Martov. No idea what you're on about, but nice one, anyway.

Who are the "orthodox left", Volt? Are they the folks who are first and foremost for the destruction of capitalism? Are they the folks who are against war unless it's a "revolution" to overthrow evil capitalists? In the words of Jerry Seinfeld: Who are these people??

Whilst I signed the EM, I also hate 4x4s more than I hate anything else. Not for environmental reasons, just aesthetic ones. Obviously I'm not in favour generally of mass killings, but I don't believe 4x4 drivers would be a massive loss to the world. They are a guarantee of rudeness, arrogance and cuntishness. Almost exclusively they are driven by men of 5'6" or under, who wouldn't dare be so aggressive outside of their silly cock-extension vehicles.

BW - you're far too bright to have signed the EM - what went wrong?

Why does VP still read Harry's Place? If having pain inflicted on you is what does it for you, there are ladies and gents who will oblige for a very reasonable recompense, without you having to immerse yourself in a sewer like that.

I read it because I find taking the piss out of people who think Greenpeace are "fascists" tremendously amusing.

Booger;

Orthodox Left as I meant it there would be those roughly adhering to the Trot tradition, or to the left wing of social democracy - I should probably have used those terms rather than shorthand :)
